The 19th-century pine sideboard, as shown in the pre-restoration photo, exhibited signs of wear, such as worn, discolored surfaces and scratches. The structure showed signs of weakening, with some parts disconnected, loose, or missing.
Work performed:
- Structural stabilization: Realignment and consolidation to restore the solidity of the joints and load-bearing parts.
- Stripping and decapage: Delicate cleaning, stripping, and decapage to remove old layers of dirt and varnish without damaging the underlying wood, revealing the original pine grain.
- Woodworm treatment: To eliminate any existing infestations and ensure future protection.
- Recomposition of moldings: Reconstruction of missing or damaged parts, precisely reintegrated.
- Wax polishing: The final stage involved wax polishing, which gave the wood a warm and natural finish, restoring the piece to its original appearance.
The result is a sideboard that has regained its solidity and splendor, ready to once again furnish country-style interiors with its history and authenticity.
