Example of Restoration of a 17th-Century Interior Door Recovered from a Tuscan Farmhouse
In this restoration, we worked on a 17th-century poplar door that was recovered from the bell tower of an ancient Tuscan village. The door features the typical construction of the era, with three raised panels and a solid wooden frame, mounted on wall hinges.
The door showed clear signs of rot and deterioration, with loosened parts and missing pieces.
During the restoration process, the door was structurally reinforced, and the missing parts were reconstructed using materials compatible with the originals. The wood was thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and treated with wax-based protectants to enhance its natural colors and ensure durability.
The ironwork and latch system were restored to their original condition, bringing the door back to full functionality.
Thanks to this careful restoration, the door has regained its original charm and historical value, ready to be used once again while maintaining its authentic appearance.
